Running Out, Air Dry Clay, Acrylic Paint, and Wood, 4 x 7.5 x 3
The figurative sculpture project required the class to think about a social issue and create a pair of sculptures addressing the same, or two separate social issues. The first sculpture addresses the effects of climate change on the youth of the world. The clock implies that time is running out, and the fade in colors represents the loss of life in the world due to growing amounts of waste from production. The second sculpture addresses the stigmas surrounding being in the prison system. There are consequences that follow a person throughout their lives even after they have been freed, and the open door in front of the chained figure represents that finishing a sentence does not mean true freedom.
