Gregor's Room, Copy paper and Ink, 5.5 x 5 x 8.5
The purpose of this project was to create a representation of the bedroom in the story The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. This interpretation features textures meant to resemble wood and crinkled fabrics. Greens and mostly neutral tones are used to imply a grimy feeling to the room without much feeling. The wrinkled textures are meant to bring about feelings of stress and discomfort. The suitcase on the bed is a representation of Gregor; all he was good for, according to his family, was his work. Therefore, he is shown as a case full of cloth samples sitting open on the bed.
