These are a few shots with slightly different lighting as my first composition. I used the cast iron skillet, needle and thread, and clothes pins to represent the domesticity that Arlette represented in the movie. I broke the plate at her table setting into three pieces to represent the family division. The cup at Henry’s place is overflowing to represent the guilt that overwhelmed him to the point of running away from home. His setting is closer in proximity to his father’s to represent their closeness compared to him and his mother. Wilfred is the front table setting with three corn kernels painted gold to represent the prize he sought after that cost him his whole family, and even the land he fought for as a consequence of his actions. The small corn kernels are meant to show that the reward was so small in comparison to the consequences.
